                                                        TREATMENT

Drug-based therapies have proven useless in combating MAWS. Instead, experts suggest that populations arm themselves not with syringes full of antibiotics – but with machetes, hammers, or any other heavy, blunt objects. At the first sign that noxious MAWS agitprop is beginning to seep out of TV’s and radios, these highly toxic objects should immediately be piled up in an outside area with adequate ventilation – and smashed to smithereens. The highly dangerous nature of these home electronics can not be overstated. Veteran NY Times war correspondent Chris Hedges in his best-selling book War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning tells us that for 4 years hate propaganda spilled out from the TV’s in Belgrade before Slobodan Milosovic was able to incite Bosnian Serbs to violence. In Rwanda he writes that radio broadcasts from Kigali incited the genocide through constant tribal hate-baiting. This occurred as Belgian UN ‘peacekeepers’ stood by and did nothing to stop the tribal hostilities that eventually took the lives of over a million people.

Leading up to the Vietnam War, and the first and second Gulf Wars, TV news segments of each conflict were preceded by slick graphics with catchy titles like ‘Countdown to War’, “Iraqi Showdown’ – or something equally sensational. Musical clips reminiscent of the Jaws soundtrack opened each segment. An interchangeable pool of cloned retired military hawks, and right-wing think tank ‘analysts’, were paraded out nightly to explain it all to the viewers. Despite pretenses of an impartial ‘equal time’ policy, not one anti-MAWS leader or MAWS dissenter/academic has ever been known to appear on any corporate media outlet as an informed ‘analyst’ or opinion leader. Initial troop assaults and bombing runs that signal the beginning of a full-blown MAWS outbreak are usually preceded by weeks of hyped anticipation. In this way, whole populations get swept up in MAWS fever. Glued to their TV sets each evening, people sit spellbound or hypnotized into half believing MAWS is a spectator sport, video game, or some exciting new TV reality show.

The constant inundation of MAWS mongering, MAWS justification and MAWS anticipation from TV’s and radios, bends and shapes all public discourse and debate on what is taking place. All MAWS resisters are marginalized and banished to the seeming netherworld of the Indy Media, the book-buying public and the internet, in order to be heard. Day after day, these relentless noxious emanations from TV’s and radios pervade the national consciousness until a collective belief/surrender to the inevitability of a MAWS outbreak gains unstoppable momentum.

Being able to identify the early warning signs of a MAWS outbreak can end this pattern of contagion, horror and death. On the next page some useful preventive measures are outlined.
